Arcane Infusion
Arcane Infusion is the disciplined practice of stabilizing volatile spell energy within a consumable medium, transforming a transient magical effect into a portable, shelf-stable Vessel. Unlike raw casting, which requires a Focus to safely vent power, the infusion process focuses on “binding” the energy to a physical material—often derived from rare creature ecologies or refined minerals—to ensure the spell remains dormant until consumed or shattered. These infusions are highly prized as reliable, single-use tools that allow even those without innate talent to trigger specific, high-stakes magical outcomes without the risk of backlash.
Potions
Potions serve as the most volatile yet accessible form of an infusion, consisting of a liquid suspension that temporarily binds raw spell energy to a consumable medium. These fluid infusions are designed for immediate internal or external release, acting as a chemical “trigger” that bypasses the need for a Focus by using the subject's own biology to finalize the magical circuit.
Powders
Powders are an alternative medium for infusions. Slightly more stable but less easily released than a potion, powders need to be inhaled or mixed with a liquid to trigger the contained spell.
Rune Tiles
Small, clay tiles with runes carved into their surface. These are the most stable form of infusion, needing to be broken to trigger the stored spells.
Making Infusions
Regardless of the Infusion Medium, a single use can be crafted during a stretch as long as you possess the correct tools.
Once the medium has been prepared, the maker must make a spellcasting roll for the effect. Success or failure determines the effectiveness of the infusion.
