Ranged Combat

Using a ranged weapon is no different from using a melee weapon. You must have the weapon readied, and you make attack rolls using the appropriate ranged weapon skill. A successful attack means you roll damage based on your weapon.

Range

You can attack any target within the range of your weapon. Rolling with Disadvantage allows you to attack up to twice your weapon's range.

Attacking in Melee Range

Attempting to make a ranged attack within melee range of an enemy imposes Disadvantage on the attack. Further, attacking a target within melee range allows the target to treat you like a melee attacker for defense.

Critical Hits

Just like with a melee attack, rolling an Ace or Bullseye on your ranged attack roll is considered a critical hit and grants an additional effect in line with rolling an Ace or Bullseye.

Evasion and Parry

When targeted by a ranged attack, you may attempt to evade as normal. You cannot attempt to parry a ranged attack unless you are holding a shield.

Firing into a Melee

When firing into melee, your attack gains a Threshold equal to 3x the number of melee fighters in your line of fire. A success below this threshold randomly hits a different target. Yes, even an ally.

Ammunition

As long as you have a Quiver or Ammo pouch in your inventory, you do not need to count your ammunition.

Special Ammo - Unique ammunition is held in your normal quiver or pouch. However, you will need to track this special ammunition separately.
